  1. Ended up pulling the carb back apart and cleaning some stuff that apparently never came out when it was cooked out out. Reassembled reinstalled runs like a champ IMG_0966.MOV
  2. I have a friend with an 70’s station wagon. Needs carb work . Nobody will work on it and tell him we only do fuel injection. Nobody really knows how to fix things just change parts anymore.
  3. So finally got it all back together and running although not well. Runs only with the choke full on. Thinking a vacume leak or weak fuel pump. Thinking vacume leak. Might have one more shot to play with it before my surgery sidelines me for 6 weeks. But not complaining as it felt good to resurrect something that sat for 30 plus years and get it this far.
  4. Unfortunately front wheels for a 1240 are model specific which is what created the problem.
  5. Now that the tire and wheel debacle is resolved, i’ve been slowly working on the mechanicals. Carb rebuild, fuel tank cleaning, new fuel line with filter. Pulled the head over the weekend and cleaned the top end and head up. Removed a mouse mansion. Waiting on the correct headgasket kit. Still have points to install and flush out the fuel pump. Got the choke and throttle cables freed up and cleaned and painted the battery mount.
  6. Thanks for all your help and suggestions . Y’all came through again.
  7. Thank you for your suggestion, it helped me locate a set in western pa. I will go get them on saturday morning.
  8. I will get a few pics and post later. Do you have contact info for this person?
  9. No,the front wheels are complete swiss cheese throughout. The back ones are salvageable. I may have to find a company that can reproduce them. $$$$$
  10. Howdy guys and gals. Been a while since i’ve been on. Started a project which is turning into a small nightmare. Working on a speedex 1240 garden tractor for a family aquaintance. Their father had liquid calcium in the tires and now after sitting 30 plus years some gas leaked out. Had the whole ness dismounted from the wheels and the wheels sandblasted. Back wheels have some pitting but are salvageable. The front wheels however are swiss cheese. Looking for a set of those wheels. Tried everywhere including Jensales in minnesota no luck. Hoping you fellas can help me out or give me some guidance. This tractor has a lot of sentimental value to the family so restoring it is a priority, thanks.
