  1. The excel horn is from PAI they come with everything to install the ones I have replaced are or have enough the round ones I bought exact replacements i.e. the 24 inch and they fit the holes and everything just fine. You can buy 2 excel for the price of one Mack through the dealer. If the guy who originally posted this wanted different horns then the holes would not line up seems pretty obvious as far as not having the mounting pieces the place that sold him the horn must have been an open box. I have purchased several and the quality is great chrome plated is nice and it has all mounting hardware.
  2. I think that was an add on after the fact. I think it had square tanks as the passenger side was used as a hydraulic tank and the B model tank is to far back and is awkward to get in and out. I am surprised its been on there so long as you just about fall out of the truck.
  3. Good I didn't know what I would have for options. I checked on the trunion bushings as I am going to rebuild the spring packs and I figured since I was going to have all that stuff loose I want to change them
  4. His phone died and he lost my number in it, he said he found my cell on a piece of paper and he called me couple weeks ago and said he was still interested in selling and asked if I still wanted it. I told I sure was and about a week later went and picked it up before he lost my number again.
  5. Its been a couple years since I was planning on buying this old dog. Finally made the long drive to go get her. I posted up on FB under steel dash Macks last week the trip going to get it. Everything seems to work good I pulled my lowboy yesterday around the yard to make room for my camper. She does need some TLC and some love but nothing like I have had to do in the past to other trucks.
  6. What are options to replace the old style rods or can you still get them? I haven't called Mack yet about them just putting together a list of stuff that the truck needs.
  7. I have fixed a few I just welded in some patches and used some some Liquid Steel Epoxy than sanded smooth after that the I put two layers of the vinyl on the panel as the stuff I bought I didn't think the mil thickness was enough and was afraid that eventually it may transfer the repair. After three years still looks good. The first layer just covers the panel the second wraps about 1/4 inch around the edges.
  8. So where are the badges and how much?
  9. Is that Canadian dollars or American? how's the interior?
  10. If someone parks a working truck usally it ain't to save the miles. With that said, ask him straight up. You will be able to tell if he is being truthful. If he really don't know, pull an oil sample and send it in. Are you planning on working it or hobby trucking. A worn motor will go a long way in a hobby truck.
  11. I think if you use Dino oil once a year. Fake oil I would go by hours. The Army has tactical vehicles that go a full year with minimal excersize and the change by the oil sample or 1 year. Dino oil. I don't remember synthetic oil in the trucks but I am sure some vendor has talked the DoD into a contract to use it by now.
  12. Sounds about right money wise and planning if she not on the verge of puking a piston I don't think you need the full 5k in repairs if you do the labor. Cab mounts are easy and cheap same with the air bag. Get on pai and look them up they are all available.
  13. I am surprised you still cant do an online donation!
  14. If you checked everything it tested good try the testing again. Obviously it is getting air or heat into the coolant from somewhere or keep your fingers crossed and add some stop leak.
  15. I think it was a fair price for the shape. I am surprised he was offered $1500 for scrap as it is $100 ton for automotive here ((KC)) that's with no fluids or tires. That old girl probably only weighs in at 8k so real scrap price in the great center of the US OF A would be $400 to $500 for it. I don't even scrap anything any more ain't worth the fuss. My 68 F is a prime example. The scrap yard only was going to give him a couple hundred after he removed the fluids and tires. The truck had 3/4 tank of fresh fuel and new tires he said he couldnt fuss with it for the money. The only reason he stopped running it for fall harvest was the dot stopping him because it was so old.
  16. Where are you located out if? I see the snow but she is not too awful rusted
  17. Just in time for winter and start a new project
  18. If you are really going to make it nice take the hood and assorted parts to the local chrome guy and have them stripped then redone or if you have a good polish guy get that done. The hood piece is aluminum new like $999.00. If you need a two stack cut out sleeper with new vents and floor I got one for sale for what I got in pm and I will send you pictures. I was going to put on my 1978 but decided I couldn't cut the hole in the cab
  19. The fan will spin when running but not be locked in. When it is locked in it gets full rpm blowing air over the radiator cooling it down and you can hear it blowing. I don't know if you can put a bolt in it to lock it up like you could on the cummins if you can I would do that. It will hurt you mpg but you won't be stopping every 20 minutes to check the temp on a 5 day drive at 40mph. BTW for as much as you have written you might want to contact Haggerty the are up in traverse city and maybe you can right a story for there old car magazine. Lots of car articles not much of trucks.
