  1. Here's a litte video of the truck for all those interested. Making some headway here and there, working on painting the bed currently. Pics to come.

  2. The spare transmission that came with my truck had a shifter. It is still being stored by the previous owner. We retrieved it last night. It was slightly longer and didn't work, but we were able to copy the end which was in excellent condition in order to reshape my original lever. She shifts! We also built a battery box and salvaged the original fuel tank! The top of the tank was pitted and had some small holes, so (after purging) we cut a hole in the top, removing the worse of the holes. I was able to really clean out the interior, which turned out to be in surprisingly good shape. I stripped the exterior, and my husband did some patching. Shop night this week will be dedicated to getting these systems all up and running so she'll have her own power and fuel. Frame, rear-end, tank will be ready for paint this week.   4. There is a oil slinger on the crank right in front of the seal, throws most of the oil away from it. terry

  5. I got to enjoy putting the rear crank seal in today...I've never done one of these lead wire things. The manual says to use a wood dowel to roll the wire into the groove, lotsa luck with that! I ended up using a big wrist pin to force the thing down into the groove. Hopefully it doesn't leak.

  6. Thanks for that info. I finally took a few minutes today , and went to my truck shed. I had a long eared dog ( desk ornament ) that my dad got , from a 64 R model. My 55 B has long ears , and my 82 Superliner has the short ears. Oops , I should have wiped all the dust off the one still on the hood..

  10. I think there was a thread years ago with a new MB cab. I recall someone saying a refuse companie had them in stock if one was wrecked on a front loader truck. Would be interesting to know where they sat all these years

  11. That’s exactly what you have to do . Back when I was running a 12 spd I used to go out start the truck put shifter button in neutral and the stick in 5th let the clutch out and go back in and have a coffee and read the newspaper .

When your talking cold, what sort of temp are you talking Cold in Australia is different than other places around the world As to the oil I cant advise if it's ok or not I would check the air pressure and make sure the regulators are working correctly I would as check the filter and the exhaust to make sure it is clear Paul

  13. On warm up put front box in gear and back in neutral, loosens everything up. terry
