  1. In May on the way to Reno, my friend and I stopped in Cheyenne to try to see 4014 but it was in the steam shop which is in the middle of the Cheyenne rail yard. No access was available but we went to a near by park and took some pictures of 4004 which is on permanent display there. As you can see, it was a little damp that day. Some time since then I joined the U.P. Steam club and I recently got an update on the travels of 4014. It is attached. Union Pacific Steam Club Update No.docx

  2. Associated Press / September 5, 2019 Crew members of western Ireland’s Doolin Ferry Co. were headed to Inis Oirr, a small island in Galway Bay, on Monday afternoon when they spotted something bright orange floating in the water. “First I had a feeling of fear, (wondering) if there was people in difficulty 'cause we could only see about a meter of the bow sticking out of the water,” Tom Noel, one of the crew members, said Thursday. “Then once we got closer and could see the amount of growth on it, I knew it was a long time in the water and that it was only a dange

  7. Found a picture of it from above in the early 2000s before it was put up for auction. If this helps anybody in helping me find it if it’s still out there or understanding it’s story then that would be awesome and I wouldn’t be able to express my gratification for that. I would say the same for the sister to our 1973 CF600 but that disappeared without a trace before the days of the internet unfortunately. And two more form the ground when it was still in service presumably in the 90s...

  10. Soon will have fresh paint and a dump body installed and will be back to work. Was on Long Island but now in New Hampshire. Has the OEM lollipop light on the hood but also has the giant lollipop light as seen on many metro LI/NJ rigs.

  15. There was a recall on the flasher on about 24,000 CHU, GU and CXU models . You really need to get a flasher from a Mack dealer . The prongs are extra long on the Mack flasher, this is needed as the wire connection are deep in the fuse panel. Standard electronic flasher prongs barely reach the wire connections in the fuse/relay panel . Also check for the wires pushed out the bottom of the panel . Lastly, if all looks good , replace the turn signal switch, we still go through turn signal switch’s in our fleet.

  21. SCA = Supplemental Coolant Additive. When I worked at Cat in the 90's we had a lot of trucks roll in that didn't get tested regularly and ate pinholes in the liners.

  23. I'm sure the dealers will be none too happy hearing that 20% of them won't be dealers anymore. But as consolation, they get to be dealers for Nicola trucks if they ever appear out of the vaporware...

  24. Test Drive: Hino's XL 8 Class 8 Straight Truck Jim Park, Heavy Duty Trucking (HDT) / September 9, 2019 We waited nearly a year and a half for a ride in one of Hino’s new XL Series trucks. This Class 8 straight truck, configured with a 24-foot reefer box, is pretty typical of the applications this truck will see when customers get their hands on them. After all that time, I have to say it was worth the wait. According to Glenn Ellis, Hino’s senior vice president for customer experience, Hino had been toying with the idea of getting into the heavy Class 7 and Baby 8 markets for

  27. 25095125 $3.66 I leaned on Manders Diesel. Those guys are the best informed Mack parts men I’ve met. They’re a Mack dealership and a salvage yard so the guys at the counter have all the crossover compatibilities in their heads. There was no picture of it in the system. Bill found it listed though as a “qty 1” item on the diff breakdown.

  28. Exactly, like Peterbilts and KW's are mostly what you see at truck shows, and what everybody seems to want. No doubt nice trucks, but I like seeing the Fords, the Dodges, the GMC's, etc. One of the best, if not the best, cars I ever owned was a 1970 Olds Cutlass Supreme. Had a 350 in it, automatic, power windows, just a sharp looking car. I've had a 68 Tempest, 72 Nova, 70 Chevelle SS, 68 Camaro, and more, but if there was one I should have kept and restored it would be that Oldsmobile. It looked a lot like this, same color but different wheels. Mine had factory wheels that looked ki

  29. If everything is LED and you have the wrong flasher you won't have any lights because the LEDs don't draw enough current for the bimetal switch to trip. Need a standard bulb in the circuit.
