Sad to see Australians falling for such intolerance. A lot of mass market foods are kosher and halal certified, and most customers happily consume them and never notice the little certification marks. When you're running a bakery that puts out 4 loaves of bread a second, it's easier to halal and kosher certify everything rather than stop and start the line to produce small quantities of halal or kosher product. The Imans and Rabbis also provide an extra level of food safety inspection that government often cannot.

Because I like my country the way it is, that makes me an intolerant deplorable. Our exceptionalism is why everyone wants to be here. Why should we capitulate to every small minority until we become the third-world shithole that they all came from? The most intolerant people I know are the bleeding heart liberals that try to accommodate everyone.

Because you refuse to accept the facts- For example, while Jews and Muslims may be enemies in some parts of the world, here in the U.S. they are increasingly allies and will stand up for each other if they are attacked. As for a war with the Muslim world, seems like it's you guys that want to start that.

Exceptionalism? Like health care costs double Europe's with worse results? And life expediencies that rival 3rd world countries? No wonder more Mexicans are leaving than coming!

Good on you, Paul. The Muslims want every Jew dead and Israel wiped off the map, and by proxy America because we support Israel, but WE are the intolerant ones. Obama directed his UN ambassador to throw Israel under the bus, and Trump is accused of being an anti-Semite. I can't follow liberal logic.

Dont you worry its not just Americans they want dead I reckon we need to bring back the treason laws and sort this out sooner rather than later

Anyway back on to one of the true miracles of the modern world "Vegemite" dunno what they were thinking when they made it but I love it on my slice your own doormat toast for breaky each morning that and a cuppa will put lead in your pencil and get you thru a day

Since when was Kosher or Halal certification a threat to anyone? Are you going to refuse to eat food that is Kosher or Halal certified?

You need to learn a few things about culture... CULTURE COUNTS..... second only to biology.... ask any persecuted minority in a Muslim country. A culture's food supply (and certification) says A LOT about their value systems.

Its worth noting here the rich irony exhibited in these comments. . . A liberal, long-time union retiree lauding the virtues of Adam Smith's invisible hand... You didn't seem to care for that much when it came to protecting your pension. Oh the hypocrisy never ends with the Left.

By the way, Douglas Murray is a homosexual whom I greatly respect.

The bombing of the WTC in 1993, the USS Cole and 9/11 have made me very unsympathetic toward the whole lot.  It is not a peaceful religion no matter what is said.  They continue to prove otherwise.

Don't forget all of the local terrorism that isis and other Muslim terrorist have claimed over the last few years. Boston marathon bombing, the San Diego shootings, the gay night club shooting to name a few. And we still let them into the US but as Bernie sanders said a couple of days ago when congress was interviewing one of the candidates for surgeon general I believe "..we are NOT a compassionate country..."

The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by the people who vote for a living.

The government can only "give" someone what they first take from another.

And were not both world wars largely started by christian and shinto countries? I could paste a list of all the atrocities perpetrated in just the 2nd world war by the Nazis and Japanese, but it'd probably crash this site. Suffice to say, every religion and ethnic group has their tyrants, and it's unfair to label every follower of those religions because of them. I know several muslims and they're peaceful people, do any of you muslim haters actually know any muslims?

We lived in Israel from 1972 to 1974. Muslims tolerate the Jews and Christians, but will wipe them off the face of the earth  if they can. Convert or be eliminated thats the mantra of Islam

Given that the muslim population is a majority in many places and vastly outnumber the jews and christians, how come they haven't acted on your purported animus and wiped out the jewish and christian minorities? Are they too lazy to carry out that mission, or are you lying to us?
