  1. There is a lot of discusion on this site about Volvo owning Mack and how they will destroy Mack as they did White, Autocar etc. There is a simple solution to keeeping the Mack line alive. Buy Mack across all lines and models. Buy less Volvos Shakers etc. Volvo won't kill a good thing. Make sure you work with your salesmen to make sure your truck is speced right. Getting a wrong speced truck only contributes to bad feelings towards a manufacturer. If Volvo does eventually squeeze out the Mack name they will have no need for it and will probably sell the rights to it as they did with Autocar. There is no way the Mack legend will die if customers stay loyal and keep buying Macks. Enjoy the rest of the holiday.
  2. Reminds me when I was a kid the neighbor"s garbage truck said " we never refuse refuse. I would ask my Dad why refuse (reefuse) was there twice. At the time I didn't know what (refoose) was.
  3. Yes mack did offer integrated sleepers in the 50's and 60's on the B models. There may have been an offering on the earlier A models also. Autocar White and international also had these versions back then. White reintroduced the integral sleeper in the early 80's right before Volvo bought them out and then dropped the brand name like a hot rock.
  4. I believe the F model came in three versions in America 54 inch BBC, 72 inch and 8o inch.
  5. It appears that Mack USA could take quite a few lessons from Mack Ausrailia as far as model lineup goes.
  6. My guess would be that you are looking at the old time big brother device that had a piece of circular chart paper which rotated in a circle. One revolution equaled 24 hours. There was an ink pen device which left an ink trail on the chart. The ink trail represented engine RPM vs. time. The truck fleet manager was able to determine how long a driver stopped at a dinner for example by seeing the amount of time the engine was at 0 rpm or idle rpm. Also they could determine engine abuse by noting over reving on non governed engines. In short they could tell how the truck was driven in a 24 hour period. Big brother is much more advanced today.
  7. I can see why there arn't more cl tractors on the highway (ugly) but the cl"s as a dump are awesome looking especialy with a little crome and paint. We have a company out east here that has red cl's with black trim and silver aluminun dump boxes (puts those k woppers and petes to shame). The company is rawson. They seem to have one of everything mack makes. They even have one t-800 but its no match for the cl's in appearance. So whats up all you dumpers why not more cl's?
  8. If you go to the Mack web site there is a video there that hints at a brand new conventional for 2007/8 with the 16.1 or MP-10
  9. I have been a mack fan for about 50 years. Thermodnye was around in the 50,s. Thermodyne probably came about as trademark from the engineering and sales department. Thermo means heat and dyne is a unit of energy. Put them together and you have heat energy which is what a diesel does it turns chemical energy into heat energy and then mechanical energy. Maxidyne maximum energy, econodyne economy energy. Magnadyne was a gas engine. Magna may of had something to do with magneto (just a guess). Keep them macks a rollin.
