Freightrain Posted September 1, 2015 Share Posted September 1, 2015 I reused the existing mount, just used a piece of all thread to mount it with some spacers set it. I then re engineered the slide bracket to reach the alternator. Been 14 yrs now.Can't recall the brand of alternator? Have to go look at it. I got it at the local starter/alt rebuild house. Maddog13407 Posted September 6, 2015 Share Posted September 6, 2015 yup a Delco 21SI alternator works. can even use your original pulley. might have to make a new adjustment bracket or shorter or longer belts. do yourself a favor and try to get on that's NOT from Napa or been rebuilt. get one from Mack or a heavy truck parts place. a regular Chevy one wire alternator will work to but might have trouble finding a 2 groove pulley for one. teleman Posted September 7, 2015 Share Posted September 7, 2015 I bought an alternator from a guy on ebay..qualitypower1..he put a double groove pulley on it and sent a bracket along that bolted to the stock generator mount..I bought it pos ground and ran it for a year then changed it over to neg. ground still keeping the series paralell switch...works good for me..Jim Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
