ktrucking Posted July 9, 2015 Share Posted July 9, 2015 We have a 05 Mack CXN613 with the Mack AC355/380 engine and a Fuller 10 Speed. Our driver was going down the road and heard a loud clunking noise and he said the truck ran out of power so he got out and the transmission was smoking. Repair shop looked at it and said that there were only a few bolts left on the backend of transmission holding the plate on. All the oil drained out and so the bearings tore up. wheeler73 Posted July 10, 2015 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Has there been any work done on the trans recently? This is not common. I would recommend a reman trans as there is also gear damage done. ktrucking Posted July 16, 2015 Author Share Posted July 16, 2015 There hasn't been any work done on the transmission. We ended up getting a reman transmission put back in it. The shop got it done in a day. Cost too much though! Now if we could get better fuel mileage out of the truck we would be doing good. 5 mpg is about all we get pulling a 53' van with normal loads weighing 40,000 #'s. Dirtymilkman Posted July 17, 2015 Share Posted July 17, 2015 That 355/380 is a great torque motor. And it should be pulling 6 to 7.5 if driven correctly. Theres a chain of grocery stores here that used to run those pulling 53 footers and I think they averaged 7.
