mcotter Posted April 2, 2015 Share Posted April 2, 2015 I have a problem shifting into and out of 3rd low and 7th high, almost acts like it is sticky or dry and requires some effort at times to get in and out. 220cummins Posted April 2, 2015 Share Posted April 2, 2015 My experience recently with an 8LL exhibiting the same is the main drive gear on the input shaft, that is undercut from the factory for easier shifting, is worn and needs replaced. It may also be the shift forks maybe worn from forcing it to stay in or out of gear. First I'd check the shift tower for damaged or worn springs and the mechanism for operation. If all good pull the covers or drop the trans and inspect gears.
