Mack2. R model preferred3. 1980s vintage so it has the look I want (R model with fiberglass nose), is affordable, and isn't so old that it's probably in poor condition.4. Tri-axleSince it's an '89, that's about perfect, IMO for the year. It's not a tri-axle, but if the price is right, I can put one on after buying the truck. The soft coal haulers really roll the miles and work them hard. Not saying this one was but I had some friends that bought them and they were pretty wore out. Joe D. You would have to rework the cowl a little but it would look the way you want and you would get an e7 which is a big plus in my book. MACKS Posted February 23, 2015 Share Posted February 23, 2015 What are the weight laws there,how much do for hire trucks carry legally because that what you have haul,keep in mind that a new drop axle is 6 or 7 grand and a few thou to install,that's with out tires,I know because i just had one installed on my 10/w dump and like someone else said 58 rears on a tri is over kill,its what i have on mine but that's what I had already,44 rears is what u want..Good luck Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mrsmackpaul Posted February 23, 2015 Share Posted February 23, 2015 wobblin mate Im no expert I always by crap and fix it up that way I know whats been done and what hasnt and what short cuts I may or may not have taken but the problem I find when I see something that has being painted I dont know what it was like beforeWas it really that rough that it had to be painted to make it look good enough to sellAnd I guess the biggest thing is if I see something and the paint job is crap and things are bent and dented then if the people couldnt make the effort to get it neat and tidy before giving it a quick blow over then what does it say about the rest of there repairs ????I always prefer to find something that is original in paint ect as I can see it in it's warts and all stage dosent mean I wont buy it if it's rough just means I have a better idea if what I am looking at good luck with it all Paul Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
