Looks like a well done job.

How much time did you spent primering/sanding/spraying?

I keep my eye on them XJS's during a bunch of years but still haven't catched up one.

Once bought that poor cat to cheer muself up.

i spent about 5 days on prep work and shot everything in one day it was a pretty straight car to start with some little dings here and there but no major dents, and absolutely no rust. i still managed to miss a couple really small dings that i didn't find till the clear was on but there super minor im probably the only one who will ever notice and i drive the car its not going to be a show car. the paint laid out real nice its going to be a breeze to cut and buff this one out. im going to get the whole car back together first though just figure i will let the paint cure out and if i put any stuffs in it putting it back together they will be taken car of by the wet sand and buff anyway.

i like them xj-6's if i didn't already have too many vehicles i wouldn't mind having a early xj-6

some partially put back together sunlight pictures today

Vlad are you a G-Wagon (Gelandewagen or G-Class) specialist? There is always one in your photos. Last time black, now white. We have had 4 of them. G500 (Black, Black, Silver) and G550 with G55 exhaust upgrade (White). They're bullet proof and US Special Forces use them in place of Humvee's in certain situations because of their narrow track and extreme off-road capability. I want an early '80's 300GD upgraded with a OM617.951 Turbo 5 cylinder.

thats a damn good looking paint job for what i can see of it and no spray booth in sight

nope no paint booth, there is a small amount of inclusion in the paint but nothing a cut and buff wont take care of. iv shot cars outdoors before and still had good results, i pushed pretty late into the night i shot the jams let them dry a few hours un masked everything and re-masked everything and then shot the body all in one day by the time i finished shooting the clear i was having some trouble balancing adequate ventilation and still keeping enough heat in the shop. my the time i shot my final coat of clear i was barely holding 60* inside.

I see the Jag is of the late serie with long rear lights.

And I too like this graphite color for it.

During about 15 years I had no less than 10 attemts to buy any but always missed it by some reason.

Yes, Mercedes G-wagens is my deal, I mostly just part them out.

There were a lot of them imported aside of the customs and paperwork fired up later.

By the word they are very popular overhere due to the hard city traffic and lots of snow in the streets.

The white one in the picture was originally G300/OM617 NA, with no turbo. It's not mine though but the guy's who worked at me. The one with a saw on the pic. It's 1983 and has 3rd body on its frame. The original one was burned off by a fire when he bought it and the second was crashed.

Some years ago in-action pic.

yeah my xjs is a early facelift car, after the tail light and interior changes but before the body colored front and rear bumpers. in the us i think the xjs is a highly under valued car at current. i only paid $2250 for mine granted with some bad paint work and some other minor issues but very solid car. bought it and drove it 2100 miles home. super nice super low millage cars sell 10k with some exceptions +/- and they were a low production car they were made 1975-1996 aprox 120k cars made in that time with about 31k convertibles produced 80k coups and roughly 5k cabriolets ford cranks out more mustangs in a year than jag did for the entire production run of the car. I feel the value of them will go up over time but i have mine because i like it less so than the value of it.

carlot, 300 would have been my next guess looks like the second one has a little rot in the rear 1/4 but both cars look very restorable.

Nice to see the results of your job.

Overhere there were few XJS's imported during earlier years and they used to be top expensive.

For about last 15 years you have to pay import taxes of near $6 (or 6Euro) per cubic cm of engine size. It means 5300x6 so nobody do it.

The local ones show up from time to time for 25K if nice and 12-15 if crap. Cabrios go higher.

Additional happiness is a tax to own a car. If more than 250 hp it's about $1-1.5k per year.

As for me I own 1987 Mercedes SEC coupe wich is a car of the same kind as XJS.

Don't have power and time enough for too many projects. As the most of us :whistling:

the earlier cars had the 4 round headlight the "facelift" cars had the single headlights or "euro" style headlights as they call them here. i think the single headlights fit the lines of the car better. the 4 headlights were only installed on us cars to meet a us requirement at the time. the single headlights will fit into the earlier cars and the 4 headlights will bolt right into the later cars.

Never thought about that.

I also more like European lights regardless 4 round headlights are more exotic overhere.

By the word those European lights exist of English RHD version also with the different light pattern but the same outer look.
