Mack 2070 shifter

Recommended Posts

Not that I know of. I had the "golf club" looking plastic shift knob on my '90 RD w/T2070A trans. I used an old Roadway brand sparkle shift knob by popping off the plastic :mack1: logo insert, removing the metric nut from the top of the stick.I then welded the nut to the bottom of a coupler (used for shift lever extensions),I was then able to thread a short shift lever extension into the coupler and screw the standard threaded shift knob on to the extension. I had to drill a hole in the insert so the coupler would fit through it and not look to tacky. Hope this helps. Al

Thanks Al I figured I was going to have to make something. I thought about drilling the shifter knob out where it would slide all the way to the floor and then put an old school knob on it. Then I could still use the bottom 2 gears if need be plus wouldn't be accidentally bumping it in to lowside !

There's probably a bunch of different ways around it. I wanted to use an air shift 6 speed knob (which was used first on the 2070),but was told by the service manager that the stick on mine was metric and so were the airlines. Too much to mess with for me,I guess. Al
