Hey, he even mentioned me in the "Ratty Truckstop" chapter- He asked me to get some pictures of the Steel City Truckstop if I was in the area, and I did and sent them to him, that was several years ago.

The first one goes no where for me and the second goes to a sign in page for MSN outlook.

Time to get the decoder ring.

I got it on my hotmail e mail, I have to sign in on outlook.com to get my e mail. I'm gonna send it to myself on aol and see what happens.

Tom,

Thanks for posting Old Bill's bibliography. I glanced thru most of it but I stopped and read the last section about his wife's Alzheimer's. I wish Old Bill and his wife the best.

It really hit home as my mother (she just turned 90) is developing dementia (has been since spring), is losing control of body functions, and needs assistance for almost everything (even eating). Very depressing. My mother has not been home to the farm in almost three (3) years. After all this time I fully expect to open the door and see her. I have overcome some of the depression of her not being at the farm and I still feel sad when I am at the farm by myself. I visit her every day at the nursing home when I am at the farm. I too am afraid to answer the phone when the nursing home calls.

No one should experience the effects of dementia and Alzheimer's. My prayers go out to anyone experiencing this nasty "disease".

It's a terrible disease, my uncle- Daddy's older brother- had it for several years before he passed. He was in a V.A. nursing home in Richmond and didn't know anybody when they went to see him. Finally Daddy said he didn't want to go any more, he just couldn't stand seeing him like that any more. I think it made him afraid he might get it too, but i'm glad he never did.

My mother had it, my mom passed away before it got beyond stage 1. My older sister is now showing signs of it. My father had dementia. We keep him at home for 4 years until he started to wander and endanger him self. We moved him to the L.I. Veterans home. After 2 years he no longer recognized me as his son. I became his dad or his uncle killed at Pearl Harbor or nobody he knew at all. The only consolation was where ever his mind was, he seemed happy. I would not wish that disease on any one. . .not even Obama. Paul

Paul that's a pretty strong statement ! I would think just a little dementia like he thinks he's in Kenya . and we make it happen :whistling: Just my thoughts

He thinks we are Kenya.... :) It would make him a martyr and give his people reasons to "carry on and finish his dream ".

Wow, if ever member sent him 5 bucks, about the price of a six pack or pack of smokes, that would be...hmmmm...a substantional amount of money.

Sent it to who? Bill or obamamamma?

Wow, Tom you sent me an e-mail last week for the 1st time since you took me off of your BMT FRIENDS List about 6 months ago. You also told me that I had been the only person on BMT to send this Old Bill money. Why send me anything about needing a DONATION when I have a mother in Critical Care with Dementia in the hospital?I don't think i'm the one you need at this crucial time. So don't try and rub me the wrong way. Like some do on this site with each other. I did wish this Old Bill my regards.

I'n not getting something here Mike- first off, I never took you off my friends list, that's not even something I ever look at or keep up with. And I wasn't asking you for money or anything else, I simply thanked you again for your previous contribution. I re-read Old Bill's story and his financially stressful situation at that time made me realize just how much he did appreciate any donations he might have gotten. How that could be conceived as trying to rub you the wrong way is the part I don't get.

Anyway, i'm sorry that offended you, and sorry to hear about your mother,I hope she's doing ok and i'll be praying for her.
