another pre E9 998cu in V8, isnt that two in a week? I didnt think they made that many 1005 engines, and this one is intercooled where the other one wasnt.

I had posted a questions about the evolution of the E9.. haven't got much of a response. I was looking at a 1980 intercooled V8, but I am unfamiliar with the changes made with the V8's through the 80's and 90's. Would the 1980 V8 be a 'good' engine? The tags are missing on the valve cover. Any info would be much appreciated.

Fun is what they fine you for!

Post the question in engines and transmissions. As I recall the E9 started in 84, the 1005 was the same engine in its pre E9 form, before that say the 70's and early 80's was the 864,865 and 866, I don't know much about them but others here do.

I was thinking the same thing. I had some pictures of it when it was sitting at Benny's. I think i posted them in the Chicago thread.
