clicking sound under dash. solenoid or breakers?

Recommended Posts

sounds like a solenoid or circuit breaker clicking.

seems to happen when i stop the truck and shift from gear to neutral. the truck has an auto trans.

when the clicking happens it does not seem to hurt anything. everything still works and no visible signs of trouble.

tha sound is coming from under the dash near the circuit breakers and solenoid.

thanks

Hello!

If it's a circuit breaker, wouldn't you have to reset it manually in order for it to click again? I say it's some relay, would be interesting to know what it does. Good luck with your truck and have a nice day

hi.

not too sure.

its on a mr688s truck and the sound seems to be coming from the center near the front close to where the power inverter connections are.

took a peak noticed 3 circuit breakers and a large solenoid. the breakers seemed fine and none were tripped. gonna check the connections at the solenoid.

thanks

The automotive circuit breakers are automatic, they have a bi metal strip that causes them to open under the heat generated under a high draw and reset when they cool down. A short or overload will sometimes cause an endless cycle. They do wear down with age. Most all are available by amperage rating in an auto parts store . More than likely the solenoid is just doing it's thing. Paul
