The main rails are fine but the light steal stuff is junk, as well as the sping pads on the front axle trailing arms so now I have some work to do. If there's no paint it just surface rust where there's paint it just blisters keeping all that moisture traped.KInda like the Ford truck chassis in the 80-90's. They would rot from the inside because the paint held the moisture in. When the paint fell off...........there was NO metal left. Same with the oil pans of the day. It is why our bridges are falling down. It penetrates the pores of concrete and ruins the rebar. That is why you see the rails of double frame trucks swelling like a road kill 'possum in August..! Thank goodness I live in TN where only a few thousand tons are used every winter..! Your RGN is the victim of SALT. ! We spend all summer fixing everything and painting it so winter can come and eat it all again. Can't imagine the distress and high blood pressure that would result.!!Thats why we try to use aluminum trailers besides our triaxle but the body is rotted bad on that. Not bad when dry but once it gets wet it runs everywhere and up here they mix molasses with it so it sticks to the roads and that leaks out of the tailgate as your going up the load leaving everyone behind you covered(and we have tight gates on everything) as it finds the smallest crack to leak out of. 1 Quote Matt Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So I cut off the rusty sprind pads and made new ones. Next are the spring brake mounts then buy all new brake stuff, wheel bearings. It will be alittle bit till it done but when I get a free min.
