I am just feeling pissy at the moment. I have been a member of the ATHS since 1984. The ATHS seems to be going downhill quickly. The website forum used to be a cool place to visit but it was updated a couple of weeks ago.

It is much better now....

I made a post. It is anti administration but since I am a member it was my opinion of what is going on with MY club. Let's get others communicating!!!

But NOOooooo, just have the website moderator pull it.

Real smart.

Hi Jim - Keep in mind the ATHS is much more just a website. Some of the best members have never been on a computer, as we both know. The best is getting to meet fellow truck nuts such as yourself and your father. The forum has de-evolved into a social networking site used by a handful of posters, maybe it should be left to fade away?? Mike

Hey Mike! How are you doing?

I know there is more to the ATHS than just the forum.

The forum was a way for me to get my trucking fix in between WOT. I also look to the forum to communicate and be involved with MY club.

The direction of the ATHS needs a course correction and using the forum to get people involved and communicating could be a positve method.

I have posted a response to threads as with others only to come back the next day and it is GONE.
Vanished from the site.

Just doesn't make sense unless there is something that is trying to be covered up.

Jim

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.

Hey there. Many of us here feel the same frustration as mentioned. There are a few over there that "rule the roost" so to say. Anybody that is uncomfortable, or feels unwelcome at the ATHS website but enjoys the trucks like we do is welcome here. The only thing I won't tolerate and I've said it many times is personal attacks on another participant. That kind of activity will have me personally pulling a post and if the activity continues, permanent banning of the participant. Other than that, pretty much all is fair game.

I am working to steer this website so all are comfortable and free to express their own opinions. I don't really care how crude the subjects become, or how foul the language, as long as they are not racist, or ethnic based. We are all people, and equals among ourselves here.

My personal envision is for this website to be everything the ATHS website will not, or cannot become. We do not have a fancy building, or magazine to hawk, nor do we have dues to offset the enormous overhead of overextension they seem to suffer. Anyone that participates there is welcome to participate here and make their own decision as to which environment, or format they prefer. There is room for everybody. I am personally steadfast against censorship of postings unless it infringes upon others negatively. This is a practice openly adhered to at the ATHS site and it's blamed on the "administration. If the participants had any balls, this would stand a chance to change and we may have a little friendly competition. I don't see that happening.

Like I said before,I am a member of the ATHS,along with the other groups.I've tried to ask a question on theirs........no response. Here I get a truckload of them!!! I just chose to stay here. There is even a place here for the brand X trucks that I own! So why go anywhere else? Stil support the ATHS,just don't use or need their forum-my 2.9 cents worth!
IF YOU BOUGHT IT, A TRUCK BROUGHT IT..AND WHEN YOU'RE DONE WITH IT, A TRUCK WILL HAUL IT AWAY!!!!

I haven't been over there much in the last few weeks, since the big change over. I've always like the people that I have met, but I agree, the administration has really gone over the top lately. They push the "family friendly" to an extreme that many can't get over. It is NOT church, so let it be OPEN to any communication(truck related or not). Over the years they have pushed away a good amount of people. Granted, you can't please everyone, every time, but they sure do seem to work at finding new ways daily.

I'll still be a member, and enjoy the people I interact with at club functions. Just not sure how active I'll be on the forum.

Nothin' new... Back when I questioned ATHS's $10 admission charge for the South Bend show I suddenly wasn't able to post. That said, despite all their online rantings and threats, in person they're OK- I attended the Huntsville show and nobody gave me any grief. Then again, maybe none of them recognized me...

Yep.. I like aths but the fourms are becoming a nightmare if you want to post your opinion about a topic. Just saw another post that was edited... It's starting to feel like Hitler runs it..not fun and we lost all the good members from that mentality.

Noticed the editing myself the past few days. I certainly understood some of the old edits, but the edits since the blow-up 2 weeks ago are insane. One deceased forum member donates $25K to the online chapter and all hell breaks loose.

Ahhh, is that the story behind all this Dan?? I'm just a freak'n mushroom, so I'm in the dark. Not that I care what/who, but sounds interesting.

I did just go over and look around. Found a post about deleting threads...........so I added my .02 about "don't question my authority" (from South Park....and I'm not a fan of that show at all).

The ATHS forum has always been run by a "few". maybe now it is in the hands of a few new "fews" I dont know and really dont care.... but I will say I had several posts deleted in years past for awful minor issues...............like the time I posted about my bulldog Diesel getting a new set of nuts called neuticals..............I was accused of posting a link to a porn site. yeah right............ what a bunch of BS that was...........how about the time a guy posted Peterbilt adds with gals in scantly clothes and that even got deleted!! Too many far right wingers running that ship both in the past and present.

I just want to say a little something here then I will go back to the sideline. In 2008 a small group of ATHS members, at their own expense, re-vamped the message board. Everything that happens on the message board is watched by HQ, especially by the Ex Director BIll Johnson. Bill is very anti-forums. He has always used the slightish issue to attack the forums at board meetings for that reason the members of the Online Division (of which I am a charter member) watched what was posted very closely. Even I got my hand slapped a time or two (once for posting pic's of Hooters girls on my truck) but I came to understand why. I have seen many on this board attack the ATHS board recently. Please understand that the ATHS forum has been moving about on egg shells for years because of Bill Johnson and his back-ass ways. A few weeks ago Bill (with the help of a couple others) made the move to STEAL the forums from the online division which many feel was the 1st step in going after the above mentioned money as well as some other assests. This entire situation is EXTREMELY volitile and at this time none of us know exactly what the fall-out will be. There is a huge wealth of knowledge (or at least there was) on the ATHS forum. It is too bad what is happening is being allowed to happen. Just by posting what I have posted here could create big issues for me but quite honestly with other issues in my life at this time, ATHS is the least of my concerns. I am disappointed in myself for loosing interest in the old truck hobby, but what HQ has done to us (the Online Division) I just really don't much care anymore. To know what Eddy, Frank, John, Jeff and many others did over a 3 + year period to make the ATHS forum a success and to see an A-hole rip it apart in a matter of a couple days has just really taken the wind out of my sail....
